Volunteer Job Description
1. Provide educational materials in recorded format to those who
cannot effectively read standard print because of a visual,
perceptual or other disability.
As a volunteer, you will be asked to:

Commit to a minimum of 90 minutes per week of volunteer service;

Training sessions: during your first training session you will begin by observing or "sitting in" with a reader and director and you may be able to "direct" or operate the computer at some point during that session; during your next training session, you may be a director with supervision from another director or production staff. After that, some volunteers may then be able to solo direct &/or participate in reader training;

Learn and follow instructions for directing, reading or any other volunteer task you undertake;

Reschedule sessions you might miss due to unforeseen circumstances;

Ask questions when you are unsure about the correct procedure and participate in refresher training as new or different methods for improving recording techniques are developed; and

Check our bulletin boards regularly for RFB&D updates, holiday closings, etc.
2. Participate in the annual Record-A-Thon, a week-long event usually held in April designed to bring attention to the mission and purpose of RFB&D, and volunteer for additional recording sessions during that week.
3. Help "spread the word" about RFB&D, its mission, and opportunities for volunteer service.
4. Login each time you volunteer with RFB&D.
